The Trapped Hummingbird

Last night as I observed a hummingbird caught up in the garage God started to speak to me about how so many of us are caught up in the “Church,” relationships, jobs, etc.. The door was always opened for the bird to fly to his freedom but he just continued to fly up instead of going just a little ways down and he would be free. “What does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth?” Ephesians 4:9 KJV We are stuck in these high places and feel so trapped in the familiarity of what we think we should be doing but yet our freedom is just a little under us. We can stay trapped in our familiar surroundings and continue to feel trapped deep down inside or we can accept the better things God has for us just outside the door. Yet we remain in the captivity of our buildings, relationships that we know are not God’s will, and our jobs that have just become a part of our lives. 

Are you ready for that change in your life where God can take you to the next level? He is ready to set us FREE from all the things that have kept us bound from becoming the person he has created us to be. Stop bumping your head trying to go up as far as you can and come down some so God can show you his freedom. It is time to wake up and realize God has been trying to show you what he wants of you and has in store for you but you have been blinded by the light and glitz of what the enemy is showing you! “So then, we may no longer be children tossed [like ships] to and fro between chance gusts of teaching and wavering with every changing wind of doctrine, [the prey of] the cunning and cleverness of unscrupulous men, [gamblers engaged] in every shifting form of trickery in inventing errors to mislead.” Ephesians 4:14 Amplified Bible 

So many of us are getting wrapped up in what makes us feel good that we continue on the paths that we have been on for many years with no evidence of change. We would rather die stuck in our comfort zones rather than stepping out in Faith and making a change in lives of others around us. God wants us to go out into the streets of our city and reach out to those lost and dying daily while the church continues to pass by them. We are so stuck on schedules and being late for church, dates, jobs that when we pass someone in need we may or may not say a prayer for them and we keep going. Be careful what you do people you never know when that person might be an angel sent by God to see if you will listen to His Word. 

It took many frustrations to get the hummingbird free but it was finally set free and remained free. Several times he was free to fly but continued to fly back inside to the light that was blinding him from his “True Freedom.” We have got to get ready to be set free indeed of everything that is holding us back from what God would have us doing. We are called to go into the Nations and preach God’s Word. Matthew 28:19 No matter how many times it takes us to continue going out and reaching those around us we should continue our efforts will not go void. Each time we reach out it will get easier and easier until finally we have helped set others and ourselves free from the bondage of the glitz and light that has blinded so many of us. It’s time to have God’s Freedom, Love, Understanding, and to prosper doing the Works of the Lord. 

Don’t think it will be an easy road there will be many trials and temptations but be strong and know Jesus is on your side and he will see you through it. If the enemy is not attacking you in some way re-evaluate yourself and your life something is wrong if everything is just peachy! When we step out and do God’s Will the enemy will come in like a flood and try to discourage us to STOP what we are doing because of the FEAR he has. Make him tremble at your name because he should know that mighty Warrior each of us are. When the arrows come your way they will only make you that much stronger of a Warrior if you don’t allow them to demolish all that you have stood for and believe in. 

Don’t settle for anything less than what God has for you! Pray, seek him and see if he would have you change the routine of your daily life. Maybe he has you at your job to touch those around you and you have been too shy or scared to say anything! Well don’t be the time is NOW! Share the Gospel with those around you in all levels of your life. Maybe he has you at that “Church” to step up and expose what is wrong through Christ’s love. “But when anything is exposed and reproved by the light, it is made visible and clear; and where everything is visible and clear there is light.” Ephesians 5:13 Amplified Bible Be encouraged and know that complete freedom is at your fingertips, God does have a plan for your life seek him and ask what it is that he would have you do. Lord, what am I doing at this job? Is that my destiny? What am I to do in this building? Is there something more? Is this relationship right for me? Is this the one? Be ready to hear him! When you ask you shall receive an answer be ready, be ready, be ready! If he tells you to move on after you have asked this listen do not ask for some mighty sign, don’t miss your opportunity for greater things in God’s kingdom.

Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil. Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord
